1951 Bowman #306 Jimmy Piersall Rookie PSA 9 MINT – "POP 5"; Highest Graded PSA Example!

PIERSALL MINT ROOKIE!!!... Highly popular centerfielder Jimmy Piersall played 17 major league seasons with five teams from 1950-1967, battling a bipolar disorder throughout his career that ultimately led to both a book and film titled "Fear Strikes Out." A formidable player, he was a two-time All-Star and gold glove winner as well as being voted into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame. He will forever be best remembered for circling the bases "backwards" after hitting his 100th round-tripper on June 23, 1963 off of the Phillies Dallas Green as a member of Casey Stengel's New York Mets.

While he will never be enshrined in Cooperstown, NY, this unfathomable 1951 Bowman #306 Jimmy Piersall rookie card offering is surely worthy of any cardboard Hall of Fame via its PSA 9 MINT assessment that joins a meager four other examples as the finest of its kind! The "9" grade is truly justified by the pack-fresh aesthetics including a virtually immaculate portrait/bust image that reveals Piersall donning his classic Red Sox home flannels. Near-perfect centering, bright white borders, a razor-sharp perimeter including four blistering sharp corner tips, edges, and brilliant surfaces complete this timeless gem that does include typical factory issued rough cuts along the left and right edges. The irrefutable inaugural Piersall cardboard issue, its highest graded stature immediately elevates it to a world-class level amongst the hobby's elite PSA Set Registry collectors!
