(LOT 561)
1933 Goudey #49 Frank Frisch PSA 7.5 NM+ - "POP 3"

FORDHAM FLASH GOUDEY!!!... Nicknamed "Fordham Flash", Hall of Famer Frankie Frisch is one of baseball's finest second sackers to ever grace the diamond, ending his career with a stellar .316 batting average. He led the New York Giants to several championships in the early '20s and, after being traded to St. Louis in 1927, eventually became part of the famous "Gas House Gang", adding two more championships to his already prestigious resume. Likewise sporting championship caliber is this super scarce 1933 Goudey #49 Frank Frisch subject that has defied 90 years of potential wear, with only two other examples at this lofty plateau, and a mere 11 specimens graded higher! The switch-hitting superstar reveals a classic batting pose, set against a flawless olive green background, with the only notable flaw being a factory-issued diminutive print mark directly to the right of Frisch's uniform. Fine centering, relatively clean surfaces and right-angled corners complete this timeless gum card that truly merits the world-class assessment!
