Boldly Signed Babe Ruth "Request for Prepayment of Premiums" July 18, 1924 Document - PSA 8 NM-MT Encapsulated

RUTH SIGNED DOCUMENT!!!... Over the years, hobbyists, collectors and autograph seekers have transformed even some of the most mundane documents into treasures of the hobby and coveted relics to help preserve the past. From autographed currency to run-of-the-mill documents that each and every one of us needs to survive, those signed by the likes of Mickey Mantle or Jackie Robinson or Lou Gehrig or Babe Ruth become instant collectibles with autograph seekers and collectors. Offered here is one such piece as a "Request for Repayment of Premiums" signed by "George Herman Ruth" on July 15, 1924. This life insurance premium document features a bold signature in black fountain pen and has been encased by PSA/DNA as an 8 NM-MT signature.

In 1924, Ruth was the reigning American League MVP and once again led the AL in homers (46), runs (143), walks (142), slugging (.739) and on-base percentage (.512) while also batting a league-high .378, his one and only time leading the AL in batting. Ruth missed winning the elusive Triple Crown by only five RBIs that year. This Equitable Life Assurance document has been completed, seemingly with a carbon cover in another's hand, and signed by Ruth at the bottom right beside the red "X". Still in excellent shape, this document displays only minor wear at the corners with light creasing due to paper clips at top left, staple holes at top right and horizontal creasing, likely due to mailing. This routine piece of everyday life is now a sought-after jewel of the hobby for the mere fact that everything Babe Ruth touched (or signed) "turns to gold."
