(LOT 132)
1966 O-Pee-Chee #100 Sandy Koufax PSA 9 MINT – POP 1; Highest Graded PSA Example!

KOUFAX BLAZER!!!... Presented here is one of the immortal Sandy Koufax's finest preserved cardboard masterpieces extant, a pack-fresh PSA 9 MINT 1966 O-Pee-Chee marvel that is the SOLE and HIGHEST GRADED example on the illustrious PSA population report! Indeed, synonymous with Koufax's arguable stature as our National Pastime's greatest peak-value twirler who ever toed a pitching rubber, comes along this best of the best offering that has left its competitors in the dust. Speaking of dust, it was Sandy Koufax's blazing fastball and nose to toes curveball that literally turned bats into sawdust. From 1962 through 1966, he dominated opposing hitters better than any hurler ever, winning three Cy Young awards, tossing four no-hitters (including one perfect game!), compiling three seasons with 25 or more wins, posting microscopic ERAs less than 2.00, and achieving a southpaw record of 382 strikeouts in a single season!

His final campaign would be 1966, the year this world-class gem was issued, with Koufax ending his legendary career by claiming his third pitching Triple Crown in a four-year span via his 27 wins, 1.73 ERA and 317 strikeouts. That remarkable season would earn him his third Cy Young award, and this "POP 1" keepsake likewise merits the highest hobby accolades. A breathtaking portrait image of Sandy dominates the show, revealing crystal-clear clarity and sparkling facial hues. Excellent centering between four snow white borders only exhibits the slightest partiality towards the upper left edges, and near-immaculate surfaces as well as razor sharp corner tips are the final highlights justifying the pinnacle assessment. One of Koufax's most significant cards from the scarcer 1966 O-Pee-Chee 196-card set, it soundly resides as the perfect testament for Sandy's unparalleled diamond exploits!
