1961 Topps #71 Jim Brown PSA 9 MINT – Only One PSA Example Graded Higher!

MINT BROWN!!!... Presented here is a remarkable 1961 Topps #72 PSA 9 MINT Jim Brown marvel that has only been bested by a single PSA example! Indeed, of the nearly 1,400 PSA encapsulated copies, only one miraculous specimen has managed to achieve sheer grading perfection, with a meager 1.6% achieving "9 MINT" stature. The remarkable mystique behind any superior Jim Brown rookie-era collectible stems from his unparalleled prowess in carrying a pigskin, as he rumbled through opposing defenses with reckless abandonment. The 1961 campaign would see Brown lead the NFL in rushing yards for a fifth consecutive campaign, dating back to his 1957 rookie season. If you surveyed a myriad of football historians, most would concede that legendary Cleveland Brown superstar Jim Brown is the greatest running back in NFL history. Red Grange, Bronco Nagurski, Walter Payton, Gale Sayers, Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, etc.; name them all and virtually all enthusiasts would concur, none were as good as the immortal Jim Brown. The finest at his position, Brown was virtually unstoppable, even with the best defenses keying on him for 60 minutes every Sunday afternoon.

He ended his career with 12,312 rushing yards to the tune of a miraculous 5.2 yards per carry. Furthermore, he scored 126 TDs (106 rushing; 20 receiving) in a relatively short tenure, and is still the only NFL player to average over 100 yards per game throughout his entire career, finishing with a remarkable 104.3 yards per game average. The nine-time Pro-Bowler captured three AP MVPs, three UPI MVPs, one NFL championship and won the Rookie of the Year Award in 1957. Synonymous with Brown's extensive achievements are the world-class attributes of this PSA 9 gem, starting with a sparkling hued image that appears almost 3D-like due to the brilliant baby-blue background. Jim Brown's classic running pose reveals the immortal halfback holding a football as he dons his legendary #32 Cleveland Browns jersey. Near-perfect 50/50 centering, a razor-sharp perimeter including four pinpoint corners, and pack-fresh surfaces are the final compliments justifying the Mint assessment. Similar to Brown's pinnacle stature as pro-football's finest all-time running back, this exalted keepsake likewise resides as one of Brown's best preserved cardboard mementos, with the most advanced collectors only a simple final bid away from being its proud new owner!
