(LOT 65)
1939 Play Ball #92 Ted Williams PSA 5 EX

FENWAY'S KID!!!... 1939 was a bellwether moment in baseball history as Major League Baseball welcomed one of the greatest hitters EVER. In the class that included fellow Hall of Famers Lou Boudreau and Monte Irvin, Williams was far and away the cream of the crop. While Boudreau batted .258 with 19 RBIs, Irvin was the youthful pride of the Negro Leagues with a .258 average, three homers and 18 RBIs. Williams, on the other hand, hit .327 with 31 homers and 145 RBIs. He was on another plane. Williams finished 4th in MVP voting at only 20. The 1939 Play Ball #92 Ted Williams highlighting that Rookie campaign is one of the most significant cards in the hobby. Marking the start of one of the most historic careers in MLB history, this Williams rookie card displays excellent attributes expected from a 5 EX example. Most certainly a foundation card around which to build a Registry Set. With a brilliant black and white batting pose, clean surfaces, and clarity throughout, this Teddy Ballgame rookie is one to own!
