"Unique for the Grade" 1910 E91 American Caramel "Set C" Honus Wagner PSA 6 EX-MT – "POP 1"; Only One Example Graded Higher on the Combined PSA & SGC "POP" Charts!
"POP 1" WAGNER!!!... Before the prestigious American Caramel Company released their renowned 1909 E90-1 "King of the Candy Sets", the popular candy manufacturer issued one of the first E card sets in 1908, the super obscure E91 Set A baseball card gathering including 33 player subjects. Since the set achieved notable popularity, two additional sets were released in both 1909 (Set B) and 1910 (Set C), with all three issues including artist line drawings for an abundance of immortal turn of the century Hall of Famers. The 1910 set included players from Pittsburgh, Washington and Boston, with eleven subjects issued for each team. It just so happens that the most desirable and valuable player is included in the 1910 Series C set, the incomparable Hans "Honus" Wagner who was fresh off the heels of his 1909 World Championship.

Extremely condition-sensitive, E91 cards seldom surface with mid-grade or better assessments, justifying why this PSA 6 EX-MT 1910 Hans Wagner offering resides as one of his most remarkable 1910s keepsakes. A true "POP 1" gem, it has only been bested by a single specimen on the combined PSA and SGC Pop Charts (a PSA 8)! Wagner's elite hobby stature is obviously tied to his T206 Holy Grail subject that will forever reside as the most momentous sports card on the planet! Yet, sometimes lost in the shuffle is the Flying Dutchman's status as our National Pastime's greatest all-time shortstop, boldly justified by his eight batting titles, .328 lifetime average, 3,420 safeties and 723 stolen bases. He played the field as good as or better than anyone, and the great John McGraw was once quoted as saying Wagner was the undisputed greatest player he ever saw.

His unique color drawing incredibly shows no ill effects, defying 113 years of potential wear. Tranquil background hues join his imposing gray Pirates uniform to create a masterpiece "leaning on bat" pose that is encompassed by four bright white borders. No glaring flaws are apparent, the checklist verso is clean, and even corner wear prompting an eye pleasing uniformity is consistent with the grade. One of Hans Wagner's most eclectic candy cards, its unique for the grade status and the fact it has only been bested by a SOLE PSA example, immediately places it as one of the most formidable Hans Wagner cardboard heirlooms on the planet!
