(LOT 8)
1965 Yogi Berra Hillerich & Bradsby Game-Used Bat PSA GU9

RARE BERRA GAMER!!!... Standing at the superior stature of 5' 7" tall, Yogi Berra was an unlikely candidate to ultimately become the most winning player in World Series history, let alone a Hall of Famer. Yogi was, however, one of the most respected catchers in Major League Baseball history. Over the course of his 19 years in the big leagues, he batted .285 with 358 home runs and 1,430 RBIs. And more significantly, Berra won three American League MVP awards when the likes of Ted Williams, Al Kaline and Mickey Mantle were on top of their games. Yogi spent 19 years behind the plate for the New York Yankees (1946-1963) and the New York Mets (1965), though only appearing in four games for the Mets.

The offered Yogi Berra game-used bat hails from that 1965 season and shows unbelievable wear and game-use. Likely, a weapon of heavy practice and game-use, this B211 Louisville Slugger Bat measures 35 inches, weighing 32.3 ounces according to PSA's John Taube. PSA has determined that this PSA 9 graded gamer derived from his 1965 season with the Mets and is one of the final bats ever used by Berra during his career. PSA has noted that this bat originated from a February 2, April 5 or April 26th order placed by Berra. Riddled with heavy ball and cleat marks, as well as blue and green bat racks streaks, this fantastic tool of his trade also shows heavy pine tar on the handle, up into the barrel, as well as a black "8" written in marker on the handle knob. This bat is superbly preserved from one of the greatest players in baseball history and one of the final bats from Yogi Berra's Hall of Fame career.  PSA/DNA LOA and Letter of Provenance provided by consignor.
