(LOT 1773)
c.1950s Ted Williams "Root Beer" Cardboard Store Advertisement Display w/Original Full Easel – Measures Approximately 9" x 16"

Collectibles from the Splendid Splinter's playing days are highly coveted within the hobby, primarily due to Ted Williams' stature as baseball's greatest all-time hitter. Indeed, it's not every time that we have the opportunity to fulfill our lifetime dream; with the great Red Sox slugger ultimately achieving his relentless goal of "walking down the street with people passing him and saying there goes the greatest hitter who ever lived". One of Ted's ultra-desirable keepsakes is this seldom surfacing 9" x 16" Creamy Root Beer thick cardboard store advertisement display that miraculously still includes a completely intact original easel on the verso. The obverse side includes a classic Ted William's "bat over shoulder" pose and the TED'S - CREAMY ROOT BEER captions are super bold and vivid.

A relatively clean sun-bright yellow background has eluded and glaring flaws, with the overall presentation in the EX+ range. The only notable flaws are typical edge/corner wear, some surface snow/wear near the upper right edge, and what appears to be a faint print line extending from the upper right edge through the "TED'S Delicious CREAMY ROOT BEER" bottle. Substantiating the notion of Teddy Ballgame being our National Pastime's greatest batsman are his .344 lifetime average, 521 home runs, nearly 2,000 RBIs and the second highest slugging percentage ever (behind Babe Ruth), with all of these amazing achievements compiled while the Thumper was missing five years in WWII and the Korean War as an amazing fighter pilot. That said, this remarkable Ted Williams store advertisement sign that incredibly includes its original full flip side easel stands as one of his finest preserved promotional heirlooms, certainly destined to find a permanent home on the wall of an elite enthusiast's museum worthy man cave!
