1934 Goudey #37 Lou Gehrig PSA 3 VG
IRON HORSE GOUDEY!!! Most vintage collectors would agree that the most popular 1934 Goudey Gum Card is the #37 Lou Gehrig Portrait version, presented here in a super eye pleasing PSA 3 VG holder. One of two Gehrig subjects in the set, Larrupin' Lou would justify the landmark Goudey Gum Company's decision to include two Iron Horse cards in their 1934 set by claiming the AL's revered 1934 Triple Crown. Indeed, the '34 campaign would see Gehrig lead the AL in virtually every vital batting statistic including average (.363), Home Runs (49), RBIs (166), OBP (.465), SLG (.706), OPS (1.172) and Total Bases (409).
The Yankee Captain had now become the toast of the town due to Babe Ruth's career winding down in New York, finally appreciated for his world-class batting feats. This PSA 3 keepsake boasts an awe-inspiring array of fine attributes including sparkling facial hues, crystal-clear clarity and a relatively clean yellow background. Accounting for the grade is even corner wear, and a few diminutive soiling spots situated along the upper right and left borders. Of utmost significance is the extremely well-centered illustration, with most of the #37 Gehrig subjects exhibiting skewed images. Indeed, this aesthetically pleasing memento would fit nicely in any esteemed Gehrig or '34 Goudey compilation!
