(LOT 794)
1910 T206 Sovereign Cy Young Bare Hand Shows SGC 4 VG-EX

SCARCE T206 CY!!! This super eye pleasing SGC 4 VG-EX Young "Bare Hand Shows" just happens to boast a scarce SOVEREIGN 350 SUBJECTS ad-back, with SGC's prestigious census report listing only two others at this plateau, and a mere four examples graded higher. Indeed, it is no secret that sophisticated tobacco collectors actively seek some of the toughest front-back combos extant, and this particular SGC 4 Cy Young T206 sporting a Sovereign 350 verso seldom surfaces for the taking. In fact, substantiating that notion is SGC only encapsulating 15 such specimens in any grade (at the time this was written), with PSA only listing a meager 10 copies.

Young's iconic standing stems from his unbreakable record of 511 lifetime wins, and it comes as little surprise that baseball ultimately decided to use his name for the annual pitching excellence award. Synonymous with Young's immortal stature is the stellar eye appeal of this classic keepsake revealing a well centered image of Young releasing one of his tantalizing pitches. Breathtaking yellow, orange, green and gray hues, along with the critical Sovereign 350 Subjects bold green advertisement are the final exclamation points for this obscure T206 marvel. Ironically, the verso's Sovereign ad includes the caption "FIT FOR A KING", so appropriate for the legendary Cy Young who stood tall as the unparalleled king of baseball's turn of the century pitchers!
