1961 NY Yankees vs. Orioles September 26 Ticket Stub - Maris Ties Babe Ruth with 60th Homer - PSA-Authentic

The 1961 home run race between New York Yankees outfielders Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris is legendary and perhaps one of the most exciting campaigns in Major League Baseball history. New York Yankees Babe Ruth clobbered 60 home runs during the 1927 season and few had approached that number until the '61 season, when not one, but two players, Yankees no less, assaulted the heralded number. After Mantle fell off the pace due to injury, Roger Maris bashed his Ruth-tying 60th home run in the 157th game of the season off Jack Fisher of the Baltimore Orioles. The offered stub derives from that contest as a Lower Box ticket of Game 77 at Yankee Stadium and presents with a slightly ragged tear that begins at the perforated edge and includes an infinitesimal portion of the ticket itself. The ticket holder has also marked this in blue ballpoint on each side with the game's highlight of "Roger Maris hits 60th Home Run". Encased by PSA as Authentic, this yellow stub represents one of the historic moments in baseball's storied past. The argument stood for years that it took Maris an additional six games to equal Ruth's mark, but all of that debate may be moot as, also-Yankee, Aaron Judge met and surpassed Ruth's 60 and Maris' final 61 home runs in 2022 with his 62nd dinger to become the American League home run king forevermore.
