Babe Ruth Signed 1947 Ford Motor Co. American Legion 5" x 7" Premium Photo - PSA Authentic/Encapsulated

In 1947, a weakening George Herman Ruth dedicated his time to touring America in support of boys' American Legion Baseball. That year, young athletes across America were able to witness Babe's megawatt personality and passion for the country's pastime, even as this icon battled throat cancer each and every day. The Babe was named National Director of American Legion Baseball, which was sponsored by the Ford Motor Company. Ford dealers supplied uniforms for their local teams, and Ford dealers sponsored luncheons and events where Babe would speak to and inspire the boys. One of the prized collectibles issued from that sponsorship was an imposing 5" x 7" Babe Ruth batting photo that portrays the Sultan of Swat completing his mighty swing as he watches another colossal blast soar towards the grandstands.

As a clever marketing tool, Ruth signed a number of these images, with one of them presented here in a recently encapsulated PSA Authentic holder. The bold black fountain pen "Babe Ruth" script has been typically affixed between his two baseball stockings, presenting itself in approximate "8 NM-MT" strength. The critical "FORD MOTOR COMPANY AMERICAN LEGION JUNIOR BASEBALL" caption is situated along the lower border, and the blank verso reveals two areas of diminutive tape residue. Of utmost significance, the breathtaking Ruthian swinging pose has retained a majority of its original luster, with relatively clean obverse side revealing no obtrusive surface flaws. One of the most captivating Babe Ruth autographed images extant, its historical significance, bold Babe Ruth signature and timeless Bambino swinging pose all combine to serve as a sheer reminder of how the immortal Ruth stands alone as our National Pastime's all-time king!
