(LOT 44)
1948 Leaf #32 Warren Spahn Rookie Card PSA 8 NM-MT

SPAHN ROOKIE!!! This seldom-surfacing PSA 8 NM-MT 1948 Leaf #32 Warren Spahn rookie card has only been bested by a meager eight PSA examples! Additionally, of the 1,000+ Spahn subjects that have been encapsulated by PSA, a paltry 7% have managed to achieve the PSA 8 assessment, justifying why another PSA 8 specimen fetched $11k in a May 2022 auction. This '48 Leaf offering shares the spotlight with Spahn's 1948 Bowman issue as his two bona fide rookie cards, and synonymous with the hallowed status of this pinnacle marvel is Spahn's remarkable Hall of Fame career. The legendary southpaw still holds the all-time MLB record for wins by a left-hander pitcher with 363, won 20 or more games 13 years, and was selected to baseball's "All-Century-Team", one of only 25 such members.

Nearly every technical attribute is consistent with the term pack-fresh, including a sparkling portrait pose of the immortal Spahn that is set against a striking pumpkin orange backdrop. Other world-class technical attributes include virtually dead-on 50/50 vertical centering (somewhat offset by the image favoring the left edge), super clean borders, extremely sharp corner tips, an immaculate-like obverse side surface and crystal-clear clarity. Spahn's legendary pose jumps off the card and little did the lefty realize that his future would result in a staggering 363 lifetime wins. One of the most underrated pitchers in baseball history, Warren Sphan's statistics speak for themselves, with this magnificent PSA 8 rookie card sufficing as the perfect testament for his Cooperstown worthy stature!
