Bustin' Babes & Larrupin' Lou's American Legion Baseball Game 12-Page Program from the Final Stop on Their Famed Barnstorming Tour (Los Angeles, CA - Sunday October 30th)
In 1927, the New York Yankees ran away with the American League pennant crushing opponents and winning the league crown by an alarming 19 games over the Philadelphia Athletics. The 158 home runs that Murderers' Row bashed were more than three times the Athletics' 56 dingers, the next closest team. Following the 1927 season, Yankee greats Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig toured the nation on a barnstorming tour pitting the two teammates against one another as the Bustin' Babes and Larrupin' Lous, respectively. The offered "RUTH GEHRIG EXHIBITION BASEBALL GAME" program derives from that historic goodwill tour from Sunday, October 30th in Los Angeles, California, the final tour stop. The 95-year-old program still presents in excellent condition with the free-swinging duo (presumably Ruth and Gehrig) on the front in orange and black.

With visible edge wear and toning evident with light rusting apparent at the stapled binding, the program also shows a central crease indicative of storage in a coat or other pocket during the match. The centerfold scorecard has been scored in pencil which includes player performances as well as subs and pinch-hitters used in the game. Throughout the 12-page event program, toning is apparent, though very little can take away from the allure of this beautiful relic from 1927. With a full-page portrait of the Bambino inside and a second of Gehrig listed as "Most valuable player in the American League of 1927" near the back of the program, there is little doubt that the two Yankee heroes were the draw of the successful tour as fans across America appeared in droves to see the two sluggers launch home runs into the stratosphere. Ruth batted .616 with 20 homers while Gehrig batted .618 with 13 dingers over the three-week tour.
