(LOT 7)
Near-Complete 1921 Exhibit Supply Set – 63 of 64 Subjects (98% Complete) - #4 Set on the PSA Set Registry – 4.73 Weighted G.P.A.

1921 EXHIBIT SET!!! The landmark 1921 Exhibit Supply Company set ignited a myriad of similar type sets distributed throughout the 1920s and early '30s. Measuring a postcard-sized 3-3/8" x 5-3/8", these postcard-sized arcade cards portray spectacular black & white images of our National Pastime's greatest stars, and also included an elaborate facsimile autograph of the player. The 1921 set featured 64 subjects, highlighted of course by the incomparable George Herman "Babe" Ruth who had recently saved America's favorite game in lieu of the recent Black-Sox 1919 World Series scandal. Indeed, baseball was once again making a turn for the better, propelled by the unparalleled popularity of the mighty Babe who was revolutionizing baseball with his mammoth home runs. Ruth was joined by a myriad of other legendary stars including Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, Rogers Hornsby, Eddie Collins, Grover Alexander, Tris Speaker and Zach Wheat, just to mention a few of the immortal Cooperstown inductees. All of these diamond icons were included in the 1921 Exhibit Supply set, with a total of 20 Hall of Famers including Babe Ruth gracing this most significant gathering.

Presented here just happens to be a near-complete '21 Exhibit Supply compilation that includes 63 of the 64 subjects (missing Babe Ruth). For full disclosure, due to its excessive value and desirability, we have pulled the PSA 4 George Ruth subject from the set and are offering it separately in the preceding Lot #6. The remaining 63 cards comprise a formidable 4.73 Weighted GPA, and are listed on the PSA Set Registry as the #4 ranked current set titled: "Memory Lane Inc Winter 2022 Auction". The 63 cards include nine PSA 6s; one PSA 6 (MK); one PSA 5.5; twenty-nine PSA 5s; four PSA 4.5s; sixteen PSA 4s; one PSA 4 (MK); one PSA 3.5 and one PSA 3.

One subject resides as the highest graded specimen (PSA 5 Joe Dugan); six players have only been bested by a single example, and seven subjects reveal two higher graded copies. It's obvious that our esteemed consignor was extremely meticulous when piecing together this revered compilation, with only two cards graded less than a PSA 4. As Exhibit collectors surely realize, finding mid-grade examples is a painstaking task, with most subjects appearing in 1-3 holders. Furthermore, it's no secret that the value for these previously underrated exhibit cards has skyrocketed the past several years, primarily due to hobbyists finally realizing their previous pricing points were comparatively low versus more traditional sized-cards such as black & white 1920s "E" cards and early 1930s gum cards. To reiterate, of utmost significance are the 19 Hall of Famers that accompany this eclectic near-set, and for your convenience, we have listed all 63 cards and their respective PSA grades in alphabetical order:
