By 1933, Hall of Fame second baseman Rogers Hornsby was certainly in the twilight of his amazing career, having recently managed the Chicago Cubs and about to go back to Missouri to manage the hapless St. Louis Browns. In 1926, the Rajah led the Cardinals to a World Championship, during a time when he was still considered the most formidable hitter in baseball history. Only four graded higher than this tough 1933 Goudey. Color and brightness stand out.
