(LOT 1304)
1956 Original Type 1 New York Yankees World Series Champs 8" x 10" New York Daily News Photo - PSA Encapsulated

In 1956, the New York Yankees hit nearly 40 more home runs than the next American League team, the Cleveland Indians, who they also topped for the AL pennant by an exceptional nine games. Once again, the Yankees were set to face the crosstown rival Brooklyn Dodgers, who had won their first World Series title the previous year. But this ’56 Yankees lineup was slightly different with four players topping the 20-home run mark, including Mickey Mantle’s 52 knocks (with 130 RBIs and a .353 BA) en route to the elusive Triple Crown. Yankees fielding was excellent posting a .977 fielding percentage for the season while the pitching staff K’ed a league-leading 732 batters. It’s no wonder they dominated the league and the World Series as they beat the Dodgers 4-3. This was an historic event as big right-hander Don Larsen threw the first and only perfect game in World Series history in Game 5. Presented here is an original 1956 Type 1 New York Yankees team photo. This bright and clear 8” x 10” New York Daily News photo has been encased by PSA as Authentic and shows virtually no visible defects on the front save for some expected handling wear. The back still boldly displays the “Copyrighted By “The News” stamping in red at center with the entire team listed according to row in pencil at to and bottom. Also present “1956” next to the stamp.
