(LOT 1303)
1955 Original Type 1 World Series Champion Brooklyn Dodgers 8" x 10" Photo - PSA Encapsulated

The 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers finally got the "monkey off their back" when they beat the powerful New York Yankees in the World Series to capture their first (and only) championship. For the fifth time in nine years, the Dodgers won the National League pennant and did so with authority as they finished the season 13-1/2 games ahead of the 2nd place Milwaukee Braves. The Dodgers posted a .271 batting average for the season with a league leading 230 doubles, 201 home runs and a .448 slugging percentage while the pitching staff led the league with a 3.68 ERA and 773 strikeouts. They dominated across the board. In the World Series, Brooklyn was finally more evenly matched with the New York club and persevered to outdistance their powerhouse opponent. In the deciding Game 7, 22-year-old Johnny Podres threw a complete game 2-0 shutout to ice the Series for Brooklyn's first ever World Series title.

Offered is a 1955 Brooklyn. Dodgers team photo featuring rookie right-hander and future Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax. This extremely clean 8" x 10" image of the World Series champions includes Hall of Famers Roy Campanella, Pee Wee Reese, Jackie Robinson, Duke Snider, Gil Hodges and Sandy Koufax. With no surface flaws visible, this amazing Type 1 photograph only shows light edge wear and slight corner rounding. Encased Authentic by PSA, this 1955 Type 1 photograph of the World Series champions is bound for the nicest of photo collections and should be on every ardent fan or collector's watch list!
