1950 Original 8" x 10" Type 1 Associated Press News Service Photo of the New York Yankees World Series Team - PSA Encapsulated
The 1950 New York Yankees was a power-packed squad featuring Hall of Fame hitters Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, Johnny Mize and Phil Rizzuto, not to mention sluggers Hank Bauer, Cliff Mapes and Tommy Henrich. The reigning World Series champion's pitching staff featured Vic Raschi, Allie Reynolds, Eddie Lopat and Tommy Byrne, all of whom won 15 games or better, and rookie Whitey Ford who claimed a 9-1 record in 12 starts. After posting a record of 98-56-1, the Yanks swept the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series to claim their second consecutive title in a record-setting string of five straight World Series championships. Presented is an original 8" x 10" Type 1 Associated Press news photo, possibly procured from the Montreal Gazette, based upon the reverse notation. Still in excellent condition, this 8" x 10" photo of the champs shows some light toning and expected edge and corner wear in the form of slight corner creasing and minimal handling usage visible. The reverse of this PSA Authentic encapsulated photograph still holds the original paper caption with pencil notations including "Les Yankees de New-York sont prête pour le series mondiale", which translates to "The New York Yankees are Ready for the World Series". Discoloration and toning is also evident on the back, but no defects, front or back, detract from the image or verso.
