Pair of 1940s Original Type 1 PSA Encapsulated Photographs of Hall of Famer Enos Slaughter with PSA LOA

Ahhh! There's nothing like summer baseball in St. Louis! Boy does it get hot and humid! It's astounding that the Cardinal players don't pass out due to the heat on the field that can sometimes reach 100+. With players like Enos Slaughter, it's even more remarkable given the wool and cotton uniforms and the fact that air conditioning was not commonplace until the latter half of the 20th century. Country Slaughter played with reckless abandon over his 19-year career playing for four different teams. He posted 1,304 RBIs, racked up 2,383 hits and batted .300 for his career. Most notably, Slaughter's Mad Dash to score the Series-winning run in the 1946 World Series showed just how passionate the 10-time All-Star was. He also won three other World Series titles in 1942, '56 & '58. Offered is a pair of 1940s original Type 1 photographs of Slaughter as a member of the Cardinals. Measuring 8" x 10", the first image shows the right fielder leaning on his bat at the top of the dugout awaiting his turn in the box. This PSA Encapsulated borderless image remains in excellent condition with only the slightest edges and corner wear. The back features multiple stamps and pencil notations in red and black identifying Slaughter. (PSA LOA included) The second photo displays just how hot it can be in the Gateway City in August. This portrait image of Enos Slaughter's face shows beads of sweat over his entire face as the humidity sweltered at Sportsman's Park. These 7" x 9" Wide World Photos original Type 1 photos, as stamped on the reverse, present only light discoloration at the borders with no obstructive marks or flaws at the central image. This is a hot pair of photos of the Hall of Fame Cardinal.
