1924 Walter Johnson 5" x 7" Original Type 1 Underwood & Underwood News Service Photograph - PSA Encapsulated

Washington Senators pitcher Walter Johnson's career spanned three decades (1907-27) as he dominated American League batters for 21 seasons. Johnson led the AL in wins six times, ERA four times and strikeouts an extraordinary 12 times, including eight consecutive years (1912-19). He also led the league in shutouts seven times for a total of 110, the most in MLB history and 20 more than Pete Alexander's 90. He won three pitching Triple Crowns in 1913, 1918 & 1924. Simply amazing! We are happy to present this 1924 original Underwood & Underwood Type 1 photographs of the Big Train. This beautiful 5" x 7" photograph captures Johnson prior to the 1924 World Series. After going 23-7 with a 2.72 ERA and 158 Ks for his third Triple Crown, the Senators ace spirited Washington to their first and only World Series title. Still in excellent condition, this beautiful photo shows virtually no flaws and no signs of wear save for missing the right border and the lightest of creases at the bottom left. The Underwood & Underwood copyright is stamped in white ink at the bottom. The back still holds the original paper caption atop the U & U stamping in blue ink. Don't miss this Train. It's a real beauty!
