1958 Topps #43 Sal Maglie PSA 10 GEM MINT - "POP 2"
This pack-fresh 1958 Topps #43 Sal Maglie PSA 10 GEM MINT offering joins only a single other example as the finest of its kind! Indeed, it stands alone at the summit of the illustrious PSA "Pop" Chart, outdistancing virtually all of its inferior 450+ PSA peers. Synonymous to this card's immortal standing is Sal Maglie's stellar 10-year career that included 119 wins and a fine 3.15 lifetime E.R.A. Nicknamed "The Barber" because of the way he brush-backed hitters off the plate, Maglie led the Senior Circuit with 23 wins in 1951. That was the campaign that would see the Giants' claim the N.L. Pennant due to Bobby Thomson's historic game winning walk-off homer against the archrival Brooklyn Dodgers. A two-time All-Star, he was a member of the Giants' 1954 world championship squad, and this museum worthy masterpiece likewise offers championship caliber via its "POP 2" highest graded stature. Maglie's extremely well-centered "hands over head" pitching image is brilliant to say the least, flanked by a sparkling orange-hued setting, dazzling white borders and a razor-sharp perimeter. Impeccable surfaces and striking hues are the final compliments for this exalted PSA 10 that has miraculously withstood the test of time!
