The unparalleled skills of Kobe Bryant spanned the globe, learning to play basketball in Italy before returning to Philadelphia to continue his education and his budding basketball career. And let's not forget that he is named Kobe, after the famous Japanese Kobe steak. But, Kobe was for real. He finished high school with a long list of accolades and awards and entered the 1996 NBA Draft where he was taking 13th overall by the Charlotte Hornets. He was then traded to Los Angeles where he became a legend and lifetime Laker. Kobe went on to greatness capturing five NBA championships, 18 NBA All-Star nominations, two NBA scoring titles, the 2008 Most Valuable Player award and a spot in the Basketball Hall of Fame. His tragic and untimely passing with his daughter, Gianna, in a helicopter crash in 2020 sent shockwaves through professional sports and the NBA ,who renamed the NBA All-Star MVP Award in his honor.
