Wrigley Field Flag - Braves
BRAVES!!! During the 1980s and 1990s, Wrigley Field was a mecca for traveling baseball fans. Check Chicago's North Side ball park off your list if you sought to visit all of the ballparks in the Major Leagues. Long before the jumbotrons and digital scoreboards that we fans have come to depend upon for up to the minute results, Wrigley Field still harkened back to a nostalgic era, when all it took was a flag to tell the story. On either side of the centerfield flagpole always adorned with Old Glory, there was a flagpole holding multiple flags of the Chicago Cubs National League rivals. Offered here is one such flag of the Atlanta Braves measuring 60" x 36", tapering to 24" at the tip, in rich navy nylon fabric with "BRAVES" tackle-twill stitched in red onto a navy panel affixed to the center and metal eyelets to attach the flag swivel snaps to the pole at top and bottom on one side. The flag remains in excellent condition even despite the harsh conditions it may have endured at the Friendly Confines. Cubs staff would place the flags in order of each team's place in the division or league, so passers-by could always see who held first place in the NL. Amazing innovation before technology passed them by!
