(LOT 2102)
Martin Dihigo Original Type 1 Photo (Passport Photo) c. 1940s PSA

IMMORTAL!!! Today, Major League Baseball fans are witnessing one of the great stories as Shohei Ohtani buckles the knees of American League batters while punishing AL pitchers at an MVP pace. It isn't often that baseball features a two-way player with the most famous being Babe Ruth in the 1910s. However, Cuban-born Martin Dihigo was one great 2-way players in history in the Cuban, Mexican and Negro Leagues. Though statistics are somewhat scarce, as a Negro Leaguer, Dihigo was a two-time All-Star posting a .307 batting average with 68 home runs and 309 RBIs. On the mound he posted a 27-19 record with a 3.34 ERA. Offered is a circa-1940s Type 1 portrait passport photograph of the "The Immortal". This beautiful Type 1 has been encapsulated Authentic by PSA. Revealing expected aging, this remains in excellent condition with minimal border wear on the front and light toning and foxing on the reverse. Bid strong for The Immortal, one of the great two-way players in the Hall of Fame.
