(LOT 2100)
c.1916 Eddie Collins 4" x 6" Type 1 Bain PSA/DNA Encapsulated Authentic

This outstanding c.1916 Eddie Collins PSA Type 1 George Grantham Bain photo portrays the legendary Hall of Famer in a classic batting pose. Measuring approximately 4" x 6", his outstanding image portrays crystal-clear clarity and near-perfect contrast, as the sweet-swinging 2nd baseman takes batting practice at Comiskey Park donning his home pinstripes. A relatively clean surface reveals no glaring blemishes, with some faint surface scratches and stray wrinkles barely visible to the naked eye. The typical Bain block lettering is evident along the top border ("E. COLLINS"), and the flip side reveals the renowned George Grantham Bain News Service credit stamp as well as a bold violet stamp reading: "EDDIE COLLINS 2nd baseman of White Sox May 22, 1916". Fortunately for the "clean-cut" Eddie Collins, three years later he took no part in the despicable 1919 Black-Sox conspiracy to "throw" the World Series, preserving his honor and integrity that forever stands "heads and heels" above a majority of his inferior peers!
