The PSA population difference between a 1956 Topps #121 Pirates Team "White Back" versus "Gray Back" version is literally "night and day", justified by PSA's "Pop" Chart listing over 800 encapsulated "Gray Backs" and less than 75 "White Backs." With that in mind, presented here is an extraordinary PSA 9 MINT 1956 Topps #121 Pirates Team subject supporting the significantly rarer white verso. Miraculous to say the least, it proudly stands alone at the top of the illustrious PSA Census report as the finest of its kind! While the 1956 campaign for the Pittsburgh Pirates marked this legendary franchise's 75th season, unfortunately for their avid fans, the "Bucs" would finish in seventh place via their dismal 66-88 record.

A bright spot, however, for the Pittsburgh club was the emergence of their 26-year-old star right-fielder Roberto Clemente who was about to embark on a HOF career for the ages. The PSA 9 assessment is based on a breathtaking obverse side that reveals rich hues and fine contrast. The critical list of players reflects vivid registration, with the iconic Clemente standing in the back row, second from the left next to Elroy Face. We cannot detect any notable flaws on either side, with the well-centered team image residing between four dazzling white borders.
