(LOT 793)
"Unique for the Grade" 1958 Topps #30 Hank Aaron "Yellow Name" PSA 9 MINT - "POP 1"; The SOLE Highest Graded Example!

This PSA 9 MINT 1958 Topps "Yellow Name" Henry Aron just happens to be the SOLE and highest graded example listed on the PSA "Pop" Charts! While there is not a single PSA 10 GEM MINT specimen for either the "White" or "Yellow" named 1958 Aaron #30 subject, from a population report perspective, this miraculous "POP 1" yellow name offering easily resides as the much scarcer version (PSA has graded approximately 3,900 "white letters" with only some 800 "yellow letters" – a whopping "5 to 1" disparity). Coming off his 1957 MVP season that would lead the Braves to a world championship, Aaron would continue his slugging ways in 1958 by walloping 30 home runs and posting an exceptional .326 average; leading the Braves back to the Fall Classic against the Bronx Bombers in a devastating seven-game loss.

This classic 1958 Topps prize portrays a formidable "Hammerin' Hank" portrait pose, encompassed by a flawless bold green setting. Near-perfect centering (only exhibiting the slightest hint of partiality towards the lower edge), brilliant surfaces, four scintillating corner tips, the much scarcer "Hank Aaron" yellow name text, and a pristine verso complete this 68-year-old memento that appears as if it has just been pulled from a 1958 wax pack. Only in his fifth MLB season, little did the 24-year-old Aaron realize that he would be embarking on a career that would lead to 755 homers. The historic #715 round-tripper that eclipsed Babe Ruth's majestic 714 mark was blasted off of an Al Downing fastball on April 8, 1974 in front of 53,000+ Fulton-County Stadium home town fans. While Hank's lifetime home run total was eventually bested by Barry Bonds, he still owns the all-time records for most R.B.I.s (2,297) and Total Bases (6,856). One of the three greatest right-handed batters in MLB history (along with Hornsby and Foxx), Aaron's iconic legacy will echo for eternity, and synonymous with his pinnacle standing, this "unique for the grade" PSA 9 MINT Yellow-Name blazer likewise resides as the finest of its kind!
