1961 Fleer #43 Jerry West Rookie PSA 8 NM-MT

WEST ROOKIE!!! Drafted 2nd overall by the Minneapolis Lakers in the 1960, Jerry West was a stalwart for the Lakers team, relocated to Los Angeles in 1960, for 14 seasons running offenses that included Hall of Famers Elgin Baylor and Gail Goodrich, among others. West led the lakers to nine Western Division/Conference titles to compete in nine NBA Finals, capturing the NBA Finals championship in 1972. He holds the record for highest points per game in a playoff series with 46.3, set against the Baltimore Bullets in the 1965 Western Division final, scoring an astonishing 278 points in six games. In 1969 playing against the Boston Celtics, West became the first, and still the only, player in NBA history to win the NBA Finals MVP Award while playing for the losing team. He is widely considered one of the greatest players in league history, substantiated by his inclusion as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History. Following his playing days, West served as coach and executive for the Lakers and helped guide the franchise to eight NBA Championships from 1980 to 2017.
