(LOT 1632)
1968-70 Willie Mays Adirondack Professional Model Game-Used Bat - Graded PSA/DNA GU 8.5

WILLIE'S WEAPON!!! Nearing the end of his prolific career, Willie Mays still astounded fans and the baseball world with his acrobatic catches and superior discipline at the plate. From 1968 to 1970, Mays hit .288 with 64 home runs and 220 RBIs earning him annual All-Star nods and a Golden Glove in 1968. The Say Hey Kid stamped an indelible mark on baseball as the 1951 National League Rookie of the Year and only three years later won his first of two NL MVP awards. Mays was a 24-time All-Star, won 12 Golden Gloves and led the NL in home runs and stolen bases four times each. In 1961, Willie became a member of one of baseball's most exclusive clubs as one of only 16 Major League players since 1900 to hit four home runs in a single game and was only the 7th player at the time to achieve this feat. Offered is an Adirondack "M63" Willie Mays signature professional model bat used at the tail end of his career graded GU 8.5 by PSA. The uncracked 35 in. and 33.2 oz. ash lumber displays several ball and stitching marks on the front, right and left barrel as well as signs of cleat marks on the left and back barrel. A scant amount of pine tar is present at the mid to upper handle. With the knob stamped M63, the 33 oz. weight is also written on the knob in pencil as is his #24, faintly written in fading black marker. Still holding down 6th place on the All-Time career home run list, Mays could easily have used this bat to clout one or more of his 660 home runs 64 of which he blasted during this era. Own the weapon of choice for arguable the greatest centerfielder in MLB history! PSA/DNA LOA included.
