(LOT 1408)
High-Grade Near-Set of 1968 Topps – All PSA-Graded 8 or Better (588 Different) (8.09 GPA)

The 1968 Topps Baseball set continues to attract collectors and bidders with its vibrant photos, unique, brown burlap weave borders and its plethora of stars, semi-stars and rookies. The offered is an exceptional near-set of high-grade 1968 Topps cards encapsulated by PSA with no qualifiers. There is, in fact, only one PSA 7 (card #5) with the remaining 587 holdered PSA Near-Mint to Mint 8 or better. This 588-card assembly includes: one – PSA 7, 529 – PSA 8s, 4 – PSA 8.5s and 54 PSA – 9s.

The missing 10 cards include: #3 NL RBI Leaders, 45 Seaver, 50 Mays, 80 Carew, 150 Clemente, 177 Ryan, 230 Rose, 247 Bench, 280 Mantle, 490 Super Stars (Mantle). However, card #441 Alex Johnson is encapsulated in a PSA 9 holder and is the rarest low-pop common in the set. High-number cards in this group grade PSA 8 or better. While the missing are primarily star cards, the high-grade quality of this lot presents an amazing starting point for any interested bidder or collector looking to upgrade his/her current set. With PSA's markedly myopic grading standards, the assembly of nearly 600 Near-Mint to Mint or better cards is a rare opportunity. With minimal upgrades and/or additions, this collection could easily break the top 25 on the PSA Set Registry based on its current 8.09 GPA. ADDITIONAL SHIPPING CHARGES OF $100 FOR THIS LOT

MIN BID $2,000
