(LOT 239)
1933 Goudey #138 Signed Herb Pennock – "UNCLE JIMMY COLLECTION" (PSA 5-MK/AUTO 7) – Highest Graded Example (Qualifiers Notwithstanding) and One of Only 4 PSA Encapsulated Specimens!

Unearthed directly from the landmark "Uncle Jimmy Collection", this 1933 Goudey #138 Herb Pennock autographed gem resides as the highest graded PSA example, qualifiers notwithstanding. Graded a PSA 5 EX/MK, the bold black fountain pen script has been assessed a "7 NM" autograph, with only 3 other examples listed on the prestigious PSA "Pop" Chart! Hall of Fame southpaw Herb Pennock pitched 22 MLB seasons, twirling 11 of those years with the New York Yankees from 1923-1933.

One of his greatest seasons was the 1927 campaign where he was one of the mainstays of a formidable Yankees staff that ably assisted the New York club in literally "cakewalking" to a World Series title. Likewise, this remarkable offering reveals championship caliber via its richly hued blue background and striking contrast for the nearly impeccable Pennock image. The "MK" qualifier is based on some diminutive stray marks on the verso barely visible to the naked eye. The previous sale of this exact card fetched $4.4K in August 2020, and considering the autographed baseball card market has soared to unprecedented heights since then, we let you ultimately determine the augmented value of this ultra-rare heirloom!
