(LOT 230)
1933 Goudey #35 Signed Al Simmons (PSA AUTHENTIC) – One of Only 7 PSA Encapsulated Copies! - Includes a JSA/James Spence LOA

One of the more challenging Hall of Fame autographs to locate is a script of the hard-hitting Al Simmons who passed away relatively young at the age of 54. This explains why PSA has only authenticated seven of the bygone Cooperstown Inductee's signed 1933 Goudey #35 subjects. One of those is presented here in a superb PSA Authentic holder with a strong fountain pen script (approximate "7/8" strength) vertically affixed to the left of Simmons' classic batting stance. Al "Bucketfoot" Simmons is one of the most under rated hitters in baseball history.

His nickname was given to him due to his odd batting stance, pointing his left foot towards 3rd base and defying the "don't step in the bucket" hitting philosophy. Well, in Simmons case it worked because he compiled 2,927 hits to the tune of a .334 lifetime batting average. He also knocked in over 1,800 runs including 11 consecutive seasons of 100+ RBIs, four times he topped the .380 mark (including two seasons over .390), and still holds the Major League record for most single season hits by a right-handed batter when he stoked 253 hits in 1925. His signed Goudey offering provides emanates outstanding "VG-EX" aesthetics, with the ultra-scarce signature the highlight of this elusive cardboard treasure!
