(LOT 226)
1933 Goudey #74 Signed Eppa Rixey – "UNCLE JIMMY COLLECTION" (PSA 5 EX/AUTO 8) – Highest Graded Example and One of Only 3 PSA Encapsulated Specimens!

At the time this was written, PSA had authenticated/encapsulated approximately 1,600 signed 1933 Goudey cards, with a meager 3% of those reflecting "5 EX" assessments and only 1% graded higher. One of those extremely scarce PSA 5 scripted Goudey subjects is presented here, a sparkling #74 example for Hall of Fame southpaw Eppa Rixey that also includes an outstanding PSA 8 autograph. One of only three copies listed on the PSA "Pop" chart, it proudly stands tall as the highest graded signed Eppa Rixey Goudey, with its closest peer sporting a significantly lower 2.5 assessment.

Owner of 266 wins and a stellar 3.15 lifetime E.R.A., this crafty Hall of Fame lefty tallied 4,495 innings over 21 seasons for the Phillies and Reds, finally ending his formidable career after the season his Goudey #74 subject was issued (1933). Most impressively, this card comes directly from the iconic "Uncle Jimmy" signed Goudey collection that rocked the hobby in 2020/'21. The PSA label includes the significant "UNCLE JIMMY COLLECTION" pedigree, and the extremely well-centered card is highlighted by a sparkling Rixey image and super eye pleasing autumn brown background. Of course, the critical aspect is the neatly scripted "Eppa Rixey" PSA 8 black ink autograph across his pinstripe jersey, with a super clean verso the final exclamation point for one of the rarest and highest graded Rixed signed Goudey's in the hobby!
