(LOT 220)
1933 Goudey #211 Signed Hack Wilson (PSA AUTO 7 NM) – One of Only 4 PSA Encapsulated Examples!

Here is one you don't see very often! This magnificent 1933 Goudey #211 Hack Wilson memento has been boldly signed in blue ink by the Hall of Fame power hitter. A tough autograph on any artifact, Wilson passed away relatively young at the tender age of 48 (Nov. 23, 1948), and locating a signed Wilson Goudey is synonymous to finding a "needle in a haystack". PSA's illustrious "Pop" Chart lists only three other signed Hack Wilson Goudeys, and this particular example reveals the desirable "red-lined" ink script.

Cooperstown Inductee Hack Wilson slugged his way to baseball immortality when in 1930 playing for the Chicago Cubs, he hit 56 home runs and accumulated a staggering 190 R.B.I.'s, the latter still standing as an MLB record. The barrel-chested slugger's great career was winding down when his 1933 Goudey #211 subject was issued, with Wilson retiring after the 1934 campaign. The card itself reveals "VG" aesthetics, with a lower right corner crease not impeding the classic Wilson batting pose. Vibrant hues, even corner wear and no glaring blemishes on either side compliment the significantly bold "Hack Wilson" blue ink autograph that has been neatly penned along the left side of his hallowed image. In August 2020, a signed Goudey Hack Wilson sold for nearly $20K, substantiating why the combined rarity and imposing aesthetics of this esteemed offering has earned it unequivocal bragging rights in the autograph collecting community!
