Equally impressive is the fact that of the 4,700+ PSA encapsulated specimens, only a fractional 1% have managed to be awarded the excruciatingly tough to find "9 Mint" assessment. The 1959 campaign would mark the first of Willie May's eight consecutive 100+ R.B.I. campaigns, adding 34 round-trippers and a stellar .313 average to his legendary resume. Topps chose another classic portrait pose to represent the "Say Hey Kid", with the angelic yellow background placing this issue as one of hobbyists' favorite May's baseball cards.
