(LOT 1445)
1951 New York Yankees World Champions Signed Book w/Rookie Mickey Mantle PSA/DNA LOA

The 1951 New York Yankees season was the 49th season for the team in New York, and its 51st season overall. The team finished with a record of 9856, winning their 18th pennant, finishing five games ahead of the Cleveland Indians. New York was managed by Casey Stengel. The Yankees played at Yankee Stadium. In the World Series, they defeated the New York Giants in six games. This year was noted for a "changing of the guard" for the Yankees, as it was Joe DiMaggio's final season and Mickey Mantle's first. This would be a nice send off for Joe D as the Yankees would win the World Series to finish off one of the finest careers in Major League history.

Offered is a 1951 World Champion New York Yankees team-signed "The New York Yankees, an Informal History" book by Baseball Hall of Fame Sports writer, Frank Graham. It has the original owner's name handwritten inside cover and features 25 signatures including: Mickey Mantle (rookie), Joe DiMaggio, Billy Martin, Stubby Overmire, Joe Collins, Ralph Houk, Hank Bauer, Johnny Sain, Allie Reynolds, Gene Woodling, Jim Turner, Tom Henrich, Vic Raschi, Gil McDougald, Johnny Mize, Frank Crosetti, Tom Morgan, Bobby Hogue, Charlie Silvera, Jim Brideweser, Joe Ostrowski, Bob Kuzava, Art Schallock, Art Gleeson (announcer), and Al Helfer (announcer). Overall EX condition with minor wear to dust jacket. A one of a kind item for the Yankees fan who thought he/she had everything! Accompanied by a full LOA from PSA/DNA.
