(LOT 800)
1960 Topps #160 Mantle & Boyer - Rival All-Stars (PSA 9 Mint) - Only 2 PSA Examples Graded Higher!

This outstanding PSA Mint 9 offering of the ultra-popular 1960 Topps #160 Mantle and Boyer "Rival All-Stars" subject has only been bested by a mere two examples! Indeed, PSA has encapsulated nearly 4,500 specimens with only two of them managing to achieve sheer perfection. It comes as little surprise that the Topps Chewing Gum Company would place both Mickey Mantle and Ken Boyer on the same All-Star subject. Entering the 1960 campaign, "The Mick" had already established himself as baseball's premier slugger (along with Mays & Aaron), and over in St. Louis, 3rd-sacker Ken Boyer was showcasing both his glove and bat at a pinnacle level.

Boyer has just completed one of his finest seasons in 1959, belting 28 homers and posting a stellar .309 batting average while capturing the second of five-gold gloves he would eventually claim. Both Mantle and Boyer never looked better as they share a leisurely candid moment, with both All-Stars holding their mighty lumber over their right shoulders. Sparkling hues, dazzling white borders, a brilliant sky-blue background, blistering sharp corner tips, and super clean surfaces complete this 61-year-old masterpiece that conjures up memories of how these two diamond heroes dominated their positions at a pinnacle level throughout their illustrious careers!
