Jackie Robinson Signed Letter PSA/DNA Encapsulated Authentic and JSA LOA
This is the one of three letters we are offering in this auction written to the President of the Pee Wee Reese and Duke Snider fan clubs-Miss Margaret "Peggy" Dwyer. Jackie Robinson responds on his JACKIE ROBINSON RADIO SHOW letterhead with his image in the top left hand corner. Letter is dated December 3rd, 1948. Wow, to say the least. Robinson writes this lady, Miss Margaret Dwyer and answers a couple of her questions regarding the "Pitch Out" and "The coach at third base tells us when to go home". WMCA Radio was the home for Jackie's radio show which aired Monday through Saturday, 7:15 PM-7:30 PM. A whole 15 minutes dedicated to this Brooklyn Dodgers Legend and Historical Figure. Robinson, Brooklyn Dodgers infielder, made his debut as a sportscaster for radio station WMCA in New York, November 15, 1948. It's very rare for you to see a letter written on this WMCA stationery. This letter was written about 18 days after his debut. A gentleman throughout his entire life, Robinson broke the baseball color line when he started at first base for the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15, 1947. When the Dodgers signed Robinson, it heralded the end of racial segregation in professional baseball that had relegated black players to the Negro Leagues since the 1880s. Letter comes with an LOA from PSA/DNA and JSA.
