(LOT 254)
1923 W515-1 Uncut Seven-Card Strip Including #3 "Babe" Ruth

The 60-card 1923 W515-1 "strip set" may not be revered for its superior illustrations, but Underwood & Underwood (U&U), were keenly aware of baseball's best when they included Ruth twice in the release. Ruth won his first MVP in 1923 after leading the American League in runs, home runs and RBI. The Babe is the only player featured on two separate cards in the set (#3/#47). Offered is a seven-card strip (3-9) from the set including #3 "Babe" Ruth as well as fellow Hall of Famer Waite Hoyt. While the background colors remain vibrant, some toning is apparent. Top border appears sharp save for a small scuff above card #5; light edge wear evident; some light spots and wrinkles. Reverse has insignificant soiling and toning with a water stain at the upper right corner. Overall VG-EX condition.
