LOW POP BROUTHERS!!! In 1888, Goodwin & Company issued a beautiful 50 card set in direct completion of the 1888 Allen & Ginter set. These exquisite cards were distributed in packs of Gypsy Queen and Old Judge cigarettes and included eight baseball players as well as other popular sports athletes of the day including football, cyclists, tennis, chess, etc. The Dan Brouthers, offered example is one of the most prominent Hall of Famers offered in the set. Brouthers was one of the best 19th century hitters (along with Cap Anson and Ed Delehanty) and, according to many, coined the phrase "keep your eye on the ball"!
