Exceptionally Rare 1888 A35 Goodwin & Co. "Baseball Champions" Premium "Round Album"
The Goodwin Tobacco Company first forayed into the professional baseball promotional business in 1887 with the release of the highly regarded and massive Old Judge tobacco card set. They also produced multiple albums of ornate and beautifully crafted lithographs of ballplayers and many other subjects. Offered is ultimate creation of such albums released in 1888, commonly referred to as the "Round Album", with its unique "baseball" covers. Still tethered with the original twine, the area surrounding holes (front and back) show minor restoration and in painting; small crease on east side of front cover; slight surface and edge wear. Interior overall EX condition with minor perimeter handling wear due to the uncommon shape and more than 130 years of storage. A rare and extraordinary album of 19th Century diamond stars far more visually pleasing than the overall EX condition technical grade.
