(LOT 313)
1981 Nolan Ryan 5th No-Hitter - PSA Type 1 Encapsulated United Press International Photo – Measures Approx. 8" x 10"

On September 26, 1981, fire-balling right-hander Nolan Ryan would make baseball history when he would toss his record-breaking 5th no-hitter against the Los Angeles Dodgers at the Houston Astrodome. Utilizing his typical high-90's fastball and a virtually un-hittable "nose to toes" curveball, Ryan would strike out 11 and walk 3 in route to a 5-0 shutout against the overmatched Dodgers hitters. Previously, Ryan had been tied with the legendary Sandy Koufax with four "no-no's" before this record-breaking performance. As a magnificent testament for this landmark event, presented here is an awe-inspiring 8" x 10" PSA Type 1 photo of Nolan Ryan pitching in the 9th inning of this historic event as the burly right-hander delivers one of his virtually un-hittable pitches. Donning his classic Houston Astros home uniform, the flame-throwing twirler is reaching back in the middle of his seamless motion before delivering another "filthy" pitch. Brilliant contrast and resolution highlight this imposing image that only reflects some barely noticeable faint wrinkles near the upper right corner. The verso reveals a significant yellow caption detailing the event as well as the critical United Press International credit stamp. As an anti-climax, Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan would go on to toss two more no-hitters, ending his sensational career with a seemingly unbreakable record of 7 "no-no's" as well as an unprecedented 5,714 strikeouts!
