c.1950 Carl Erskine 1951 Bowman #260 Image - PSA Type 1 Encapsulated Barney Stein/Dodgers Photo – Measures Approx. 8" x 10"

Right-handed hurler Carl Erskine's entire 12-year career was spent with the Dodgers, with the hard-throwing right-hander making his MLB debut in 1948. One of his most popular baseball cards is his classic 1951 Bowman #260 subject, and presented here just happens to be the original PSA Type 1 photo utilized for that highly coveted 1951 Bowman subject. Indeed, it is no secret among photo enthusiasts that one of the hottest collecting angles in the hobby is locating Type 1 illustrations representing a player's baseball card issue. This imposing 8" x 10" offering depicts a magnificent portrait pose of the by-gone twirler most likely taken during the 1950 campaign. Brilliant registration and contrast steal the show, and the only notable flaw is a surface blemish situated directly above Erskine's left shoulder. The final exclamation point is the significant Barney Stein/Dodgers credit stamp on the verso, with this sensational keepsake the bona-fide image residing on Erskine's classic 1951 Bowman subject!
