(LOT 281)
1933 Babe Ruth, Jimmie Foxx, Joe Cronin & Earl Whitehill w/All-American Baseball Certificates - PSA Type 1 Encapsulated Photo - Measures Approx. 8" x 10"

It is no secret that legendary sports agent Christy Walsh moved from California to New York to seek out representing the most charismatic superstar in al of sports, that being George Herman "Babe" Ruth. Therefore, it came as little surprise that when Walsh created an "All-American Baseball Board" as a promotional tool whereby the finest baseball players were awarded certificates for their playing excellence, he chose the "Sultan of Swat" as its chairmen. These highly coveted certificates were all signed by various board members including Babe Ruth and are among the most coveted babe Ruth signed artifacts extant. Presented here is an outstanding 1933 PSA Type 1 image portraying from left to right: Joe Cronin, Jimmie Foxx, Babe Ruth and pitcher Earl Whitehill holding up the classic All-American baseball certificates (Foxx & Ruth are holding one certificate). With Ruth and Foxx in formal attire and Senators players Cronin and Whitehill donning their Washington uniforms, we can assume this image was taken before one of the 1933 Fall Classic games between the Senators and Giants (won by the Giants in 5 games), especially considering that these All-American "certs" were typically presented during the World Series for publicity purposes. A well-centered image reveals brilliant clarity and only a few negligible stray wrinkles are evident, with this ultra-obscure image serving as a sheer reminder of how agent Christy Walsh once again utilized the "Sultan of Swat's" unparalleled popularity to market America's pastime!
