(LOT 53)
1941 Double Play #57/58 Ted Williams/Tabor (PSA NM/MT+ 8.5) – "1 of 2; Only 2 Examples Graded Higher!

One of the most popular 1941 Double-Play subjects is Ted Williams, and it is his breathtaking Double Play #57/58 card (along with Boston Red Sox 3rd baseman Jim Tabor) that is presented here in a spectacular PSA NM/MT+ 8.5 holder. Its rarity for the grade is justified by PSA's illustrious "Pop" Chart that lists only a single other example at this sanctified tier, and a mere two specimens graded higher! Any card depicting the Splendid Splinter during his amazing 1941 season in which he batted an amazing .406 is noteworthy, let alone one that is has remarkably retained a majority of its "pack-fresh" qualities. Along with his teammate Jim Tabor, this card exhibits virtually all of its original factory like qualities including two impeccable portrait poses of the incomparable Williams and his inferior teammate Tabor, both of which are extremely well-centered between four blinding white borders. The print registration for their brief "bio's" and checklist numbers is extremely bold, and the light gray blank back is super clean. Seldom surfacing at the stratospheric PSA 8.5 assessment, this may be your final opportunity to capture the Williams/Tabor Double Play subject depicting near-pristine aesthetics!
