(LOT 417)
1950 Bowman Football #52 Elroy Hirsch Rookie Card (PSA Gem Mint 10) – "1 of 2" Gem Mint 10 Examples!

Cardboard perfection is rarely seen in this illustrious hobby, let alone on a card that celebrated its 70th birthday in 2020. Presented here just happens to be one of those extremely rare for the grade PSA Gem Mint 10's, a "1 of 2" 1950 Bowman Elroy Hirsch ROOKIE CARD that stands atop the PSA "Pop" Chart as the irrefutable "best of the best!" An elite member of both the Collegiate and Professional Football Hall of Fames, Elroy "Crazylegs" Hirsch played 12 seasons with the Chicago Rockets (AAFC) and L.A. Rams (NFL), winning a 1951 championship with the Rams with Hirsch leading the league in receptions (66) receiving yards (1,495), yards per reception (22.7) and yards per game (124.6).

He played both flanker and half-back, was selected to three Pro-Bowl teams and is a member of the NFL's 100th Anniversary All-Time team, one of the most prestigious honors awarded to any grid-iron player. Synonymous with these illustrious accolades are the awe-inspiring aesthetics of this PSA 10 offering that has rightfully earned the hallowed assessment. The card itself exhibits a sparkling image of the great wide-out as he dons his classic #40 Rams uniform while running ramped with the pigskin firmly tucked in his left arm. Absolutely breathtaking blue and yellow/gold hues emanate from the period style Rams jersey, with the near-perfect centering only reflecting the slightest favoritism towards the upper edge. Blinding white borders, blistering sharp corner tips, pristine surfaces and a super clean flipside are the final superlatives for this sanctified gem that similar to Hirsch's uncanny grid-iron skillsets, has vaulted this museum worthy masterpiece to a pinnacle plateau!
