1965 NASA Gemini 4 Photo – American Astronaut Ed White Takes His Historic First U.S. EVA Spacewalk! - PSA Type I Encapsulated Color Photo – Measures Approx. 8" x 10" (Includes PSA Type 1 LOA)

On June 3, 1965, American Astronaut Ed White became the first American ever to walk in space, as he exited his Gemini 4 Lunar Module outside the Earth's atmosphere in the inaugural USA sponsored "Extra-Vehicular Activity" (EVA). Only some 3 months earlier, Soviet astronaut Aleksei A. Leonov had become the first man to ever accomplish this daring feat on March 18, 1965. For approximately 23 minutes, the legendary Ed White floated outside his aircraft with the planet Earth serving as a captivating backdrop. The existing NASA photos from this historic event were taken by flight commander Jim McDivitt, and renowned "space walker" Ed White always stated that returning to the aircraft will forever stand as one of the melancholiest moments of his life.

White "opened the doors" to hundreds of future EVA spacewalks, and only four years later, NASA would once again achieve stratospheric historical heights when Apollo 11 would land on the moon, allowing both Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to become the first humans to ever set foot on the Earth's only natural satellite. The 8" x 10" color photo itself is absolutely breathtaking, as Ed White "floats" in space donning his classic astronaut gear and equipment, with the planet Earth serving as a magnificent backdrop. Clean white borders include a "S-65-30431" NASA code near the upper right edge, no glaring surface flaws are evident and a blemish free blank back revealing the classic "Kodak" paper light diagonal insignias are the final exclamation points for one of NASA's most significant all-time images portraying Ed White's epic achievement!
