1963 World Series Dodger Clincher - An Exhilarated Sandy Koufax Leaps in the Air After the Final Out of the 1963 World Series! – PSA Type 1 Encapsulated United Press International Photo – Measures Approx. 8" x 10"

Remarkable to say the least, this captivating 8" x 10" photo from October 6, 1963 portrays Sandy Koufax leaping into the air after the final out of the 1963 World Series at Dodgers Stadium. Exhibiting impeccable-like contrast and crystal-clear clarity, Koufax has just beaten the Yankees and Whitey Ford by a 2-1 score, with the Yankees only run that day coming on a mammoth 7th inning home run by none other than the legendary Mickey Mantle. Koufax would add 8 additional strikeouts in this clinching game to his game#1 "15 K" record breaking performance, placing a final exclamation point on his unfathomable season that would see the virtually un-hittable southpaw post 25 wins, 306 strikeouts and a microscopic-like 1.88 E.R.A. Those world-class figures would rightfully earn the Hall of Fame fireballer both the Cy Young and MVP awards, with the immortal Koufax's unparalleled pitching prowess ultimately placing him as one of our National Pastime's greatest all-time lefthanded twirlers.

Incredibly, the Dodgers swept the Yankees in four straight games, and even more amazing was the fact that this was the inaugural time the Dodgers clinched a World Series title at home, with their next championship clinching moment not realized until 1988. No glaring flaws are evident on this extremely scarce awe-inspiring keepsake, with the classic Koufax "leaping in the air" image depicting near-perfect centering between four bright white borders. The final "thumbs up" is the verso's United Press International credit stamp and critical caption that provides the following thorough account of this momentous event: "LOS ANGELES: Dodgers pitcher Sandy Koufax really shows his elation as the last putout is recorded, ending the 1963 World Series with a four straight game Dodger victory over the N.Y. Yankees. Koufax won the first and final games and it was the first time the Yankees have been beaten in 4 straight in 28 World Series appearances. – UPI PHOTO – October 6, 1963." It should be noted that our previous auction also presented a 1963 World Series Game#4 "clincher" photo portraying Sandy Koufax, with that particular image fetching a staggering $26K! That said, we cordially invite you to now consider the true value of this exhilarating memento that conjures up memories of how the iconic Sandy Koufax literally "carved up" the great Yankees lineup to the tune of a 1.50 E.R.A. in two masterful complete game victories!
